I think you asked this question twice with no answer on the former question. I don't drive a rc, car but from the little I know, nimh and lipo are two different batteries and obviously in voltage per cell.
your esc will probably need to be programed for the battery especially on voltage cut off for type of battery. not really a problem on nimh but for lipos, you don't want to drain that until it quits. some people may say plug and play but performance my be affected from not getting the most out of your type of battery in using the correct voltage. can't believe they would sell this with nimh (junk) and say lipos (better) can be used. if you need the esc to program to lipo, now you need to purchase esc program card and lipo. Price now goes up.
check the esc card for this model if there is selections for use of different batteries. that may answer your question on plug n play.
