    i seen a video on youtube where a guy did this mod..it worked real well. but myself i would rather do a direct drive brushless tail motor ..

    Except that the d01 doesn't have a tail motor in the first place. So won't the extra motor reduce flight time? What about the extra weight?

    look at the link and you will understand more...as for the extra weight you have to consider the weight you will be loosing by removing the gears/shaft/bearings..then the weight you add with the motor wont be that much more and can be balanced out simply by using a larger battery...as for the run time it wont affect it that much cause with the main motor not having to turn both main ans tail blades it will draw less amps therefore its a trade off..flight times will be real close to the same but tail performance should improve greatly due to it being varible pitch and not controlled by a motor rpm...
