I love my Thunder AC6.  It's half the cost of others, and I'm only using it for 3S Lipo; Perfect.  Maybe they should call it the AC3, and I would still buy it.

What you are saying is;; this is a POORLY designed charger for 6S batteries. If it is not capable of charging 6S,,,,then don't promote it as a 6S charger. There is NO WARNING or even a suggestion not to charge 6S on AC. So,,,if it burns out while I am using it 'as advertised',,,then it's on the folks who promote/manufacture it. I'm going to return mine!

did you return yours? How is it compared to SKycharger? I'm thinking to get one but it looks like the internal AC adapter only 2A...making the charger case hot enough and someday Xheli/hobbypartz.com might get law suit with the fire incident....

the skycharger is almost identical to the Thunder AC6 charger, neither can charge past 2.5A and neither have built in fans, but I've been using my AC6 for a few months now with no problems. I just made a habit of making sure the charger had good airflow around it when charging, it gets warm but not hot.

Im balance charging 4s lipo and the cut off says 16.8v.But it never stop charging on it own and even went over 16.10v and the volt per cell were 4.6 each.Why is it not  shutting off at 16.8v? Huh?

Yeah I was pissed to, when I saw the limits to that charger.
For anything going over 11.1V I now use a 12V , 7A external battery.
Simple, fast & reliable.
And that way the wont heat up.

Nutcaze... nicely done on the video... now my question.

I just received my new AC6 charger and 4 new Turnigy 2200 - 25c 11.1 lipos.  I have them connected to the charger in the Bal Charge mode with the correct settings and have selected a 0.5C setting which should be 1.1A.  So the display shows 1.1A 11.1v - current voltage is showing 12.7v.  If I switch to the screen showing the balance of the individual cells it shows:

4.10  4.10  4.10  -> top line
0.00  0.00  0.00  -> bottom line

So... it performs the battery check ok and seems to be charging but is showing an actual charge of 0.00 volts?  How long should it take for these values on the bottom line to change?  Or did I have the good luck of getting 4 identical "bad" batteries?

Thanks.

 the normal rate is 1.0 amps per 1000mah - 2200mah you could charge rate of 2.2 amps in the balance mode - when you switch to the total volts the battery is showing 12.7 and each cell is at 4.10 - one of the readings are incorrect  = VIC

Sorry I missed this reply before. The botttom line you are referring to will not change. That is showing you the status of cell, 4, 5, and 6. Since your batt has only 3 cells the other readings will remain at zero. Top row is showing you current status of your 3 cells and in a perfect world should eventually reach 4.2 volts for every cell.

Of course I am talking about lipos here.

I got some instructions from chris.7935, also try a different USB chord (a few have been defective). Doing this I got mine to work.

1- You have to make sure the charger is set to usb mode. You can flip through the user program menu and enable the USB
2- Put the CD that came with it in your drive
3- Plug it in to your computer - If it doesn't automatically detect new hdw check your cable, mine was bad and I had to use another one I had laying around. It will search the Internet for drivers and tell you it couldn't find any. Tell it you have a disc from the manufacturer.
3- It should install 2 different items. If you look in the device manager you will see a new virtual port under com ports and something else under USB devices.
4- Once you have both items showing in the device manager install the English version of the charger program. (don't install it before both items are in the device manager or you will have to uninstall it and reinstall it.
5- Click on your start button and find the shortcut. Richt click on it and choose properties. You need to tell it to run in windows xp compatibility mode AND to run as an administrator.
6- start the software and plug the battery in and start charging - The graphs should begin to show data.

Great Video...... and very helpful!

I just received my SkyCharger B6AC (Almost same as AC6 Thunder) a couple of days ago.  I use 7.4v 1200 Storm 20c 2-cell.  I have the charger setup in charge mode and it indicate a charging countup on the first screen after I hold down enter.  The charge mode is set at 1.2a, 7.4v.     However when I
switch to the screen showing each cell voltage, I have:

4.02  0.00  0.00   top line
0.00  0.00  0.00   bottom line

It appears to me that it is charging only the first cell.  I tried a 7.4v 800 charging at .8a and still the second cell indicates 0.00.
Anyone with any helpful ideas?

Do you or a friend have a 3s you could throw on there(check and see if 3s slot shows charging). If it was a bad cell it wouldn't charge the battery at all, so I think something is wrong with the charger/display. Do you have a charge/balance mode?
