Hi,
I'm actually shopping for a helicopter for my boyfriend, he'll be 27.
I don't know which one I should get, he wants something nice, from outside, motors, everything... but.. my concern is, I'm afraid to get him something he wouldn't really like. He is the type "I want the best or nothing".
To be honest, I don't want to spend more than 250$ CAD for it... I accidentally found  a 6-Channel 3D Silver "RotorFly DragonFly". This one is hard to find. Where they sale it, it's all sold out. Where they still have are double the price.  Undecided What are my other choice?
Also, if I buy online, how can I have it shipped to another address?
Of course, I don't want him to know...
if I have it shipped to my work place, how can I prove to the mail office that I work there?

Please help me...

Thank you

It depends on your friends flying experience.  Typically, if your are a beginner, a 4-channel co-axial electric helicopter is the way to go.  Currently, www.xeli.com sells the ver popular E-SKY BIG Lama for $99.00 or $129 for the 2.4 Ghz version.  If your firend is more experienced, then either a nice 4-channel single rotor heli like te E-SKY HBFP 72Mhz or 2.4Ghz model.  The 72Mhz is on sale at www.xheli.com for $89.00.  If your firend has a little more experience, then get the very afforadable Exceed Eagle 50 6-channel CP heli at $89.00 from www.xheli.com -- This btw is a steal at this price.

All of these helis mentioned above have inexpensive parts relative to the more expensive model.  They are aso very popular on the forum so you can definately get lots of help if your friend needs it.  Additionally, all of the helis mentioned above are upgradable.  That is to say you can add metal components to the rotor assembly, upgrade to a brushless motor system, upgrade the LIPO battery, add LED night flying lights, etc.  Below are some videos of these helis modified:

E-SKY BIG Lama modified with an L.E.D. night flying kit:

E-SKY HBFP modified with a main brushless motor and a brushless tail motor acting as a direct drive (DD) system:

Thank you for your help.
But I know he wants to have one that does all the flips, 360 degrees... is it hard for a beginner?

Very hard for a beginner.  The heli is only as good as the pilot.  Stay with a co-axial and then move upto the 4-channel single rotor and then a 6-channel single rotor electric heli.

Can't rush life or you'll crash and burn.

You can use an 11.1v LIPO on a 35/72Mhz E-SKY HBFP V1 Rx.  I highly recommend that you also install a 3 Amp and a 10 Amp ATO Fast Blow Mini blade fuses.  An ounce of prevention always helps.  You can goto the website in the video to get the parts.

So if I read right, you can use a 6ch as a 4ch by not using the collective and running it as fixed pitch. So wouldn't that make a 6ch optimal for an intermediate? You get 4ch and then once you're ready you can try the 6ch. I ask because I'm looking to get a new heli. I was looking at xheli and saw the Honeybee CP3. Vs. the Falcon 40 it's only ~$35 more. Is the CP3 a good heli? If the using 6ch as a 4ch is a decent option, I'd much rather do that and not get two helis.
I'm open to suggestions either way.
Thanks guys.

You can use a 6 ch. colective pitch removed (unplug that servo I think is the one on the left side looking from the back of your helicopter) and you can also use fixed pitch blades 8 or 10 degrees but with same lenght. Finally after conquering hovers and left, right turns plus heli facing you then you can start using the unpluged servo and the colective pitch blades. Cheesy ::)Good luck and best wishes

I am a beginner....I started off with a 3 ch Swift X micro heli. after 2 weeks, I got bored with it and ordered a Falcon 40 V2 (2.4 GHz) and a Honey Bee King 3 (2.4GHz). I enjoy flying both helis and doing ok, I crashed the falcon 40 about 3 times and didn't crash the king 3 yet.
I am starting to learn how to do a few 3D moves on the simulator.

oh and I control the transmitter with one hand as I paralyzed my right arm in a motorcycle accident.

so....if I can do it, anybody can.

I need to recommend a Madhawk 300 or a Walkera CB180Q/D. Great starter helicopter and is great as you advance. Whatever you decide on make sure to buy some extra parts (tail rotor, landing gear, main blades), superglue, and a screwdriver set that has 0,00,and 000 screwdrivers. I also recommend a tip saying to visit this site for any help you may need. These guys are great. Have fun.
