I started with a Falcon 40.After a couple days I was convinced the thing wouldn't fly.I thought a more expensive bird would be better.Maybe, maybe not.I then got an H68.Fact of the matter is,I really started with a 6 channel. It's wierd really.I think I'm a better flyer than alot of people on here.My low level inverts are not that good but my high speed flight is really good.I can dart around backwards better than most can hover.

The thing is,,,get whatever bird you think you can afford to rebuild every week.

I love this hobby.

I am also new to this.  A naive question: Can you get a 6 ch RC heli and switch off or set/fix the 2 ch to run it like a 4 ch fixed pitch RC heli?  It seems like the 6 ch models have better parts and features.

No.There are no parts compatible between 2 and 4 channel. There are very few helis that share parts.A 2 channel however shares parts with no other heli. All it does is go up and down and you can turn the tail left and right. No servos or mixers.

I started with a HBFP and struggled to learn after awhile I did get it down (when I say down I mean I could hover and only come back to me tail in). Then purchased a 6 channel and a few coax helis for inside.
Just recently purchased another 4 channel Walkera Dragonfly #4-1 and I absolutely love it.
I am not into inverted flying or anything yet first I want to be able to fly like it's second nature.
The only way to do that is to fly with a 4 channel Fixed pitch.
I had my HBFP and was struggling to fly it or even hover decent I then purchased a 6 channel and could easily hover it and fly it even.
Basically always master a 4channel because a 6 channel heli is very easy to pick up and hover.
If you can master a 4 channel FP heli when you take the 6 channel out you will have less crashes and will be more ready to do 3d flight than any person who picked up a 6 channel to learn.
right now I fly my FP heli about 3 hours a day and I am quite good but still do make mistakes in about 1 month I have had 2 crashes and multiple rough landings the way I see it I still have a long way to go before I start flying my 6 channel regularly.
Although I remember when learning to fly going to bed at night with a broken heli atleast now I wake up with it still in working condition:)
A 4 channel requires lots of control that is what makes you better atleast in my opinion.

Maybe I just suck at it but...I would say no to the Eagle 50. I had it going for about 5 min and already stripped the gears in the servo.

if you've never flown a 6 ch the eagle 50 is not for you. start with simulators or coxial.

well as I have crashed my eagle 50 quite a few times I have said enough is enough I am embrasing the fact that I am a "cherry Pilot" I finally ordered a co-axil helo it is a walkera 5#10 it is a 4 channel and it metal so as soon as I master this guy and fix my eagle 50 I will then venture to the dark side know as the 6 channel..( thunder and lightning and people screaming) lol

i wouldn't recommend 6 ch the first time. It's hard to manage the rotor head after crash.

4 chan is better. The only difference is flying inverted.

Andy
HI, Andy you may be able to help me out. I'm a begginer but like many others i like challengeges and rather then buying a 4-ch i bought the 6-ch walkera e-z #22
Only have for a few weeks and  crashed it a few times and now when i try to fly it revs up but right before it's about to lift off like you here this fizzing sound and the blades stop spinning
and they both drop while the shaft still spins it has something to do with the short universal pitman please help  i so desperate want to fly again!!

The grub screw that locks the main shaft to the main gear could be stripped. Please check the main gear and let me know. There is a cut off on the main shaft, a flat spot, where the grub screw catches on to please make sure the grub screw is doing that.

Well the day finally came and I recieved my walkera #5 10 and I cannot be happier that I bought this coax . as soon as I got it home I did a good preflight inspection making sure everything was tight and I am glad I checked due to a few loose screws I found and one screw that was totally stripped out due to the fact that someone at the factory over tightened a screw that goes into plastic. anyways I fired this helo up and I swear this thing started to almost hover on its own with a little correction from me this aircraft was doing awesome. If anyone was thinking about the walkera #5 10 I say grab it. this helo has got me coming back to wanting to fly instead of dreading of crashing...
