Before I was just gonna say that the guy in the vid looked like a mix between a terrorist and a Boulderite hippie (If you've been to Boulder, CO then you'd know what I mean). Then I noticed his Boulder hoodie.

Guys, I genuinely appreciate your responses.  I see copters that are fixed pitch and ones that are coaxial.  From what I have read it looks to me like the fixed pitch ones are harder to control but are more precise and the user really learns more about how to control an RC copter.  Anyone have any thoughts about this? Also so far I am seeing responses that point to the Lama and the Honey Bee.  I am still open to any suggestions, but please give me reasons why you prefer a certain model to help me make my decision.  Thank you for the input.

You figured it correct. The 4 ch. will teach you how to fly but I'm not going to tell you that this or that is going to be better or worse.  That in my "Opinion" is an "Opinion"!  I have the MadHawk 300 and am getting ready to order the Honey Bee V2.  Any of them should work fine but I'm going to assume that all of them will differ some.  I would say the biggest disappointment to me was the learning curve.   When I got my First Heli I got a 450 size 3D and figured out real quick that it was no good for learning. ("Stupid Move")
Anyway!  I would be looking into the Honey Bee V2 it is cheaper and Nuttcaze has good Videos for that heli

I learned on a 450 sized heli without sim training. I'd guess it depends on your understanding of how things work. IE What input does what. I've been hovering for a little over 2mo. and have started doing figure 8's. I've had my first wreck within 4mo......But then again, this is an opinion forum. Find what feels more comfortable to you.

A 4ch coax will teach you the basics with a lesser feeling of nervousness since it will be VERY stable.
A 4ch FP (fixed pitch) is more like the larger CP/3d heli's but in smaller size and lesser functions. (My uncle is starting to learn on the 4ch Eflight Blade-what ever it is, and it feels like a mosquito on crack. Very twitchy.)
A 6ch ccpm is bigger and handles wind better than the previous stated heli's. Depending on size though.

All of this is best explained by Shizack:
Technically, 300 or "micro" class.  There really are no clearly defined "classes" when it comes to electric helis, but generically there are a few different ways of looking at it.

Sub-micros - Everything up to the TREX 250 size.  Sometimes called "nano-sized" or broken down even further, like Firefox 100, Firefox 200, etc.

Micros - From the TREX250 size to the 400 size.  Includes 250's, Honey Bees (the King is sometimes called a "350"), Madhawk 300, Falcon 40, etc.

Minis - from Blade 400/MX400 up to who the hell knows, but smaller than a 600.  This is usually the point where people quit referring to the heli as a "mini" or "micro" and start calling it by it's advertising name, like a "450" or a "500".  Some lump the 500's into the mini class and others lump it in with the 600's.

Not as cut-and-dried like the nitros, where class is usually determined by approximate engine size - .15, .30, .50, .60, .90 and such.

Maybe I should have started this way, but get a sim. At least it will show you different heli types and what they are capable of. And also, you'll have practice without throwing away $$ on a heli you have no understanding of. It will also come in handy on a cold, snowy day.
