My comp is kinda old but its a Pentium 3.33ghz Single core, 2gb ram, ATI X1950pro vid card, 22" monitor

The HBFP on the sim is very tame, you'd almost be better to just practice with a CP on the sim, although if you're in a gym or other large indoor area the real HBFP can be very stable.

FMS is the best for the price and functionality.  Nuttcaze has done an excellent job on flight sim comparisions.  Additionally, nobody really uses a nine pin serial cable anymore. (Not a parallel cable mentioned in video).  Most new computers use the new standard which is not so new anymore (USB - Universial Serial Bus). Either 1.1 or 2.0 high speed.  So make sure your flight sim has a USB connector as it will save you from spending money for an adapter plug which in itself is hard to find.

I forgot to mention that I'm using the Xheli FMS sim transmitter with Clearview.
Best $20 I ever spent.

I also like to fly FMS still, as the heli's feel a lot different from Clearview.

That sim transmitter is perfect. No need for any adapters, batteries, or anything else.

One thing I noticed is that sometimes on a computer cold boot with the transmitter still plugged in, the transmitter may not be recognized. Just unplug and replug the transmitter and it will be good to go.

OH, and in Clearview, you can setup wind, with random wind gusts!! This makes for some really interesting flying!! I setup zero breaze with a small gust, and WOW! Hovering along and whoa! Off she goes! It's fun to 'try to' (for me) gain control back.

yep those are my thoughts exactly. I hated having to have batteries in my sim Tx, it sucked and is a total waste, no more of that with the USB Tx, w00t  Grin

I could not get Clearview to work on my computer. Anyone have any suggestions? It would load the game but then say it was running at two frames per second. I am running vista and only one gig of memory. Is it vista or my memory or something else? Do I need e-sky sim to run Clearview? Thanks.

Questions would be:
What are the specs of the computer?
What processor and graphics card?

One way to tell if lack of memory is the problem is if the HDD is thrashing when running Clearview. If so, you need to trim down the stuff that is running on Vista. Vista really likes 2gig for running any apps. You can run on 1, but you better turn off lots of stuff. My Vista machine runs with 3 gigs, is fairly trimmed, and averages around 1 gig of ram with Aero turned on, with no apps running.

Mo memory would be the first probable cause for slowness with Clearview.

You do not need the FMS (Esky) sim to run Clearview. It is a standalone app.

I also had trouble loading it on Vista.  It downloaded fine and then a small screen would pop up and go away so fast I couldnt see it.  There are special directions to follow on the Clearview site to download with vista.  I had to Update my driver, but it was free online.  There was something  on the Clearview site that directed me how to do that.  You will just have to search for it.  If it dont work then you will have to update your video card.  You can buy it on line or at your local pc store for about $45 and up. It worked fine after that.

Try closing all the crap running in the background and download the latest driver for your video card

I have been runnig Clearview on my Laptop with Vista for several months now with no problems what so ever. One thing you may need to do is turn off any virus protection software, close all other programs, and reinstall the software.

If I where to use my HBFP TX with it's included USB cable (providing I get it to work) How much sim time should I expect out of a set of batteries?

I kick myself for not getting the SIM for $10, but I though I wanted to learn on the TX I would be using, didn't realize they where near exact. I was also looking into the power cable that maxdiypower sells.

BTW, Nuttcaze, your info has been priceless while researching and purchasing my first Heli, Thank You very much.

I was using my Dauphin Tx when I first started out on the sim and could anly get about 8 -10 hours out of a set of batteries. I would definatly recommend getting the usb Tx. You will save more than enough money in AA batteries to make up for the cost of the controller.
