Andy, I have the Infinitive truck and have a couple questions about replacing gears.  First, it looks like the metal gear is wearing quick.  It's the 17 spline gear on this link http://www.nitrorcx.com/51c00-08033.html.  What would cause that to wear?

Second, my truck came with a repacement 17 spline gear but it's plastic?  This is the only 17 spline gear in the truck, so I assume it's a replacement.  Is the aluminum or plastic gear better to use?  Did they recently switch.

Last question is how to I remove the gear box to change the gears?  Not sure how to pull it out and what else I need to remove to access it?

Thanks for the help.

A wear and tear is standard for gas cars. From time to time you must make sure your engine alignment to the main gear is correct and no binding. A stop or block to the 4 wheels could cause wear on the clutch and gears.

Yes that gear is a replacement and it's no difference.

the gear box is attached to the base plate with 4 screw simply remove them.

Thanks.  When you say just unscrew the 4 screws from the base plate, how do I pull the gearbox out when the driveshafts are still in place?  Do I need to remove those also and how?

of course you need to remove the upper deck of the car, including the radio tray.

the upper deck is the radio tray basically. You can remove the entire upper deck by take off the screws just trace the screw along the upper deck and remove one by one.

Thanks, I was able to get the deck off and gearbox off.  One more question hopefully.  I'm trying to open the gearbox.  It looks like I have to remove the universal joint.  I was able to remove the setscrew, but can't get the universal joint off the shaft.  Does it unscrew or just pull off?  Any tips?  I assume I should only have to remove one side of the gearbox and am working on the side without the break.

I appreciate any advice.

thanks,

On the side of the joint there should be a little opening for a grub screw. It takes a small Allen wrench. Once you take it out it should slide right off.

I bought the "Sava Blue Monster Truck 4WD 1:10 Nitro Gas Off Road Radio Remote Control R/C Car RTR .18 Engine" a couple of months ago. I have used it a few times, nothing big, ran it in using the break in methods described.

But what I found was that the screws in the engine started to disappear.  Huh? (Rattling/shaking out of the engine I guess?)

Therefore the engine doesn't start anymore and there are leaks everywhere. I tried looking on the site for replacement screws, but there are so many listed. The only instructions I received are an upgradable parts sheet, but nothing showing what types of screws to order. I need all screws that connect anything to the .18 engine or that hold it together (any screw that touches the engine). Does anyone know what types it would take? Thanks for any input!

Hi Andy

I have the infinty truck and its been running well for a year. Today when i wanted to run it,  for the first time since last year before the winter, it got up to speed well but as soon as the engine warms up after a few runs it stalls. Then when i want to start it again it seems the compressions is less when i pull on the starter. It is not a lot less but it seems just a little easier pulling on it. Secondly, how important is it to check the temp on the engine?  Please help..hopefully its not the engine that is going...

Hey Everyone,
I recently got an infinity sava yellow monster truck. I recently was running my truck and basically i ramped it off a curb. not a good idea. I bent the two front drive shafts or dogbones. And now i am in trouble because i cannot find them anywhere. They are the 89.5mm shafts and no one had them in stock. The part number is 51C00-08029. If anyone has a place where i can find them or a part that is comparable that would work please let me know!!
Thanks
