Thanks for the replies guys.  Andy I used a reinforced cutoff wheel to make the initial flywheel opening larger and then used a carbide grinder wheel to smooth and square the cut.  I guess you could use a snader wheel to get the same effect but it will take longer.  About 15 minutes worth of dremeling is all it took.  Bottom end punch as Frozen stated will be lessened with the stock motor but I intend to put a slightly stronger motor in eventually.  I agree with you on the stock clutch bell Frozen that's why I went ahead with the mod.  Too much forces on the longer clutch bell and that can't be good on motor bearings needless to say the clutch bearings.  Overall I believe this a stronger setup with a lot more tuning options.

Hello and do you mean the gear that the clutch bell rests on?  If so then it should be steel as mine is.

Hello Roley and yes I have the 1/8th scale Battalian Truggy and my center gear is metal.  I looked on the parts website and they are listing a centergear for the truck and it looks like steel to me.  Is your original one plastic?  Also how long have you had your truggy and what has broken or needed replacement so far?  Thanks.

I am surprised that your spur is plastic.  I just rechecked mine and it is indeed metal.  Is your tuned pipe plastic as well?  If so they will send you a new polished aluminum one for free because it is supposed to come with that now.  Mine came with a plastic one and they sent me a aluminum one free of charge.  I think that is great customer service!!  I have the wild green version and love it!!  I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can break it in and run the crap outta it!!

The clutch bell should always be metal, but spurs can be either steel or plastic.

hello guys ive got a 1/8th battalion last year my gears on the bell and the spur are both metal. but the tuned pipe i got was plastic. black to be correct. i didnt not know that if your order was wrong that exceed would make good on it. my freind has lots of exceed buggies and the big 1/8 th scale truck (its just like the battalion). he also had a few errors in his order but he was told his order was rite and nothing could be done about it. so i never tried to get my order rite but i do love my truggy. i lost the metering screw in the carb so i need a new one. i replaced it with one from a duratracks carb and it work for a bit but i need a new one. also the electric start gun set you can buy will kill your one-way nut inside your pull start (you must replace pull start with the cover that comes with the gun kit).othr then that no major problems that isnt normal from what ive read. one hell of a truggy!!!!

Hey guys, I just got my 1/8 batallian and ran the first tank through for the break in process, then when I tried the start the car for the second tank of fuel, on the first pull the damn cord came out. It didn't snap, it just pulled right out. Now what? How do I put it back in?

Take off the pull start, wrap the cord around the plastic cylinder which fits around the one way bearing, and retie it in one of the small holes.

Hey, i just got the Exceed-rc Battalian on christmas, and today i broke it.. After a little trouble getting it started after break in, i got it running and for whatever reason, lost radio contact 20 feet infront of me. Then the car proceeded to accelerate full throttle into the back of a car and shatter the front right swing arms, bend the front shock tower, and break something else that i cant remember the name of.

So i guess my questions are is there a failsafe available for this truck/ is there one in there and why didnt it function, and where can i get one, and how do i actually turn the car off when i need to, all i did was turn the car upside down until it ran out of gas..

Thanks
