Yes, go to your hobby shop and pick up some filter oil.  Don't put in too much, just a little bit and squeeze the filter into a ball a few times to spread it evenly around.

The .21 motors that come on the trucks are a game of subtle changes.  It took my several tanks to get it to run right.  I had to base it more on temp than out how it sounded because to make it sound good caused it to overheat.  Make small adjustments, see how it runs, check the temp., and do it all over again.   Grin  The .21 I had didn't like it much over 230 degrees or the piston would begin to expand too much and it would stall.

Did you prime the engine?

Did you take the glow plug out of the engine and test to make sure it is still working properly?

Is there still compression in your engine?

Did you properly break in the engine when it was new?

hi frozenshade or anyone,

what do mean by priming the engine?  honestly, when i removed it out of the box(my tectonic) i immediately made it run without breaking it in. Does it have effect on my engine? can i still fix this? my engine and unit is just new.

again my engine wont start now aside from having low power previously. Please advise me.

Evo,  what he means is to bring the fuel all the way up to the carburetor.  You can take the pressure tube off the exhaust system and blow on the line, this will push fuel up to the carb.  Don't get too carried away because you can push too much fuel in.  You can also do this by holding your thumb over the exhaust port and pulling too, but I found this method easier.  I personally use a primer bulb to accomplish the same thing.

When you 1st got the truck you needed to idle the engine through at least 3 tanks of gas, then begin the process of slowly breaking in the motor by doing slow speed figure eights and progressively moving up through the throttle range.  There are other methods as well, I personally use a combination of a couple different methods.

You may also have a fouled glow plug.  Have you taken the plug out to see if it broken and still lights when you attach your glow ignition to it?

Hi frozenshade,

Ok i will do as every detail you advised me. But im worried about my engine, would it be still ok considering that i let it run immediately without break-in with 3 tanks with i first pulled it out from the box?? Would it still run long or function well? i sorry to be a beginner in this pro's hobby. but i love it.

If i found out the glow pug is not firing what should i do? should i replace it? can i buy them in the hobby shops here in las vegas? i check the parts list in my manual of the tectonic there are just mere bearings..

pls advise..

sincerely,

Evo

Any hobby shop will have a glow plug.  As for not breaking it in.  Well your engine will probably still perform as well, but it might not last quite as long.  When properly maintained a good engine can last through 10-15 gallons of fuel before it needs to be replaced or repaired.  I'm not saying yours is going to break down tomorrow, just don't be surprised if it only lasts 7 or 8 gallons.

Yes, good motors will last 10 to 15 gallons.  I would say the average "throw away" motor lasts around 10.  What I mean by "throw away" is it costs more to repair the motor than the whole thing costs.  The $60 .27 motor right now from NitroRCX is a good example of this.  The .27 works well in the Tectonic Trucks, good low end torque and fairly descent top end.

kinda of confused but if you mean the car wont roll freely on the ground.i fixed that problem by readjusting the brake arm.also sometimes dirt gets in between the disk plate and trigger for the brakes that little steel cylinder that popps out when you hit the brakes it sometimes needs cleaning so when the brake is applied the cylinder retracts. I THINK thats what you mean.most my cars come across this problem and this is how i fix them.my advice try all advice even if diffrent from others cause i see we all have a idea of what might be wrong.try all  till it works thats how i usually fix my cars from several ideas here on the forum.good luck.

This is the same thing that happened to me. Bad thing is that larger gear in there got stripped out so its slipping enough that I got no rear now. I have been looking all over the Internet for the replacement part and its out of stock EVERYWHERE!!!!

Part Name: Pinions Complete
URL: http://www.nitrorcx.com/51c00-81042.html
Part Number: 51C00-81042
