So, let's start talking some planes. I just got back to rc a couple of seasons ago after 5 decades off. I was a bit rusty to say the least. I have mostly RTF brushed powered planes. 3 channel Super Cub, a (3ch) aileron Spitfire, and a 10" 3ch. cessna. Had an f-18 but it was crashed out.

I've been considering going brushless with the Super Cub. Anybody try that yet? The spitfire is a belly lander and I thought about adding a landing gear. Anybody tried that yet? Let me know.

I'm looking at adding an eflite ARF DH2 Beaver and an F4U Corsair PNP from parkzone. Like to hear from any owners on how they like them.

Happy landings

Welcome Back!

If you live near a lake or big pond then I would highly recommend the DH2 beaver w/floats - lot's of fun!

I have a couple of planes running brushless (Reactor 3d and Taylorcraft 450) and both run great; but I am not sure if you would get a good cost/benefit by going brushless on the Super Cub -if you also upgraded the battery to a Lipo you could probably pull off some hefty extra time in the air this way; but if your looking to add speed then I would highly recommend replacing the stock wing struts to something rigid and maybe try increasing the wing dihedral a little bit in the process to add extra stability (assuming this is rudder/elevator control only)
- I am not familiar with your knowledge of brushless so just as an added note you would also want to make sure to upgrade to a brushelss ESC as well, I made that mistake once in my earlier RC day's and it wasn't pretty!

Cessna, Thanks for your input. I live in minnesota. You can't go 10 ft. without falling into a lake. I'm defintely looking at floats for the DH2.

That taylor looks great too. Must have the Parkzone F4U. Heard it flys really well.

The first thing I'm going to try is a 9 cell nMh in the cub that jumps the stock voltage up a couple of volts. I know the motor will take it because it's the same as the spitfire. Not too sure about the stock esc. I'm going to check on that. I'm really just looking for a bit more performance for easier loops, inverted etc. The increased voltage should do the trick. It's already so stable it would take a SAM to bring it down. If the batt. does it I won't make it brushless.

Happy landings
