Hail Pilot!
I'm curious to see what everyone is doing with their HBK2, I'm currently upgrading mine and start to achived experience with it. Like installing brushless motor and ESC, main rotor mechanic.

Waiting for your ideas, special tricks, photos and everything else about this amazing helicopter!

Cheers!

Thanks Andy,

Just bought it a month or two ago from XHeli.com, I think I am far away from the stock version but something bad, nothing left to be upgraded on mine Smiley except for more and more lipo to always being in the air.

I think next step is to buy one of your barebone kit, but is there somewhere that we can find information about, as an example, what the best servo fits on each model?

Sure thing is, next time, I will make sure I have aluminium stuff stock with the heli, from my short experience, I think plastic is not a good conception idea for that kind of complex and fragile mechanic.

That is, by far, the finest example of a HBK 2 I've ever seen. My K 2's, on the other hand, are ugly ducklings next to your bird, so you won't be getting any tips or pictures from me.  Grin

It's easy to tell by the picture (background too) you're a perfectionist. A well ordered mind. Good luck on your kit!

Or just maybe I spent too much time on it, that's what my wife said Smiley But maybe a bit extremist, first thing I did on it is to replace all the ugly white tie-wrap by black ones, then I just stop and wonder: "forget that no value thing and charge your dawm lipo right now!"

BTW, It could be nice too see a HBK2 who had an hard time and big life experience and still working perfectly no? Just one pics come on ! I didn't post this to received some flowers.

In order to continue the thread:
I think I had all the possible problem with HBK2, anyone who need help, it will be a pleasure for me to help you out.

Don't worry, mine arrived not calibrated too, that suck when you are a beginner. You may ajust the tail mount servo to ajust the tail pitch, put a tape near the servo mount (on the tail boom) just to see how much you moved it. This is explained in your instruction manual. If it spin left I think you need to move the tail servo forward but you may look how the tail servo behave when you turn tail strick left - right in order to see what direction you need to move it Tips : use a crash kit to calibrate it

You might also to want to check your gyro and make sure it is on reverse. When adjusting the servo holder you are aiming to get the slider on the tail shaft centered. And use the training kit, as suggested, until you can do a good hover.

 Very nice Bird!

I started flying a Bladecx and quickly wanted an outdoor flyer, a friend of mine just bought a HBK2 and recommended it. I experienced the standard issues early on with my King, burned up stock motor and ESC, and belt did not stay on the pulley. Did a few of the suggested modifications and needed upgrades but here is the kicker: After having my King for 2 years I found out my stock gyro did not work, I thought the tail was "as good as it gets" and that kept me mainly doing hovers and confined flights. Well my friend finally got his out of the box and I went to fly with him and his tail was snapping into place and the tail held perfect, I bought a new gyro that night and when I put it on and turned up the gain I was shocked, it holds great, now Im ripping this thing around the park like never before.

I also just built an EXI 450 with relatively inexpensive parts, 2.4 tx/rx, Esky Motor and ESC, Exceed Gyro, and T-Pro servos, I love it. I followed the videos on you tube made by Mikeys rc. Im moving towards 3-d and will use the King as my "Crash Dummy", it is a good bird for the money and have learned to be a top notch mechanic as a result of the design.
