I know for brushless, the BEC mus t be disconnected for twin motors. But what about
brushed?. I have the Nitro Planes Catalina and one motor stops before the other one does. I disconnected the BEC. Could that be the reason?.

I would doubt it is the BEC. One motor jsut may be more efficeint than the other.
Swap the escs around and see if the other motor dies first..
