Hi all I've been going through the pages here and have noticed a lot of people having problems such as their cars trucks, and buggies seemingly wanting to take off on their own or running when your turning the wheels only, etc.
Now this would as far as I know only apply to the brushed motors but something I'm going to add here applies to all motors brushed or brushless.
#1.For people who are new to the hobby or hobby grade vehicles be sure to unplug your batteries from the ESC,its O.K. to leave it strapped into the chassis but I don't think its a good idea to leave even a 3/4 discharged or used up battery hooked up to the ESC.
#2.I was thinking back to a time when I first got involved in flying EP airplanes I purchased an RTF with a brushed motor in it I wanted to know everything about maintaining this motor or buying replacements for it and was introduced to the reason why there are capacitors soldered to the motor, that being the prevention noise from the motor interfering with the performance of the receiver.
I own the champion and I can tell you that its close quarters on the chassis and wander if this is not the problem,I've had one or two glitches since I've had this thing but can say that its a sure thing that there seems to be a signal being passed even when I'm not operating anything on the transmitter and considering the receiver is setting right next to the motor where the leads enter through the back I'm wandering if this might not be doing some sort of magnetic damage to the receiver?
I don't know this to be a fact this is just a thought?

The magents are not strong enough to hurt the rx.
The capacitor is there for interference, but the interference a DC motor creates w/o the capacitor is far more likely to affect an AM band tx. Maybe a tiny bit on the FM band and none really at all at 2.4ghz.

More likey than not the fault lies in poorly soldered contacts on the RX itself. I now switch out all my electronics to something nicer than exceed. Both the RXs I opened for my G2 and Eagle 50 and 4-5 bad solders each. 1 had solder from one pin leaking on to another pin. The other 4 problems were very weak solder connections. Also everytime I have opened one of their RXs it looks like it sat at the dock for 6 months before I got it. There is a lot of corrosion. Corrosion leads to short circuts and funky stuff.

I can say after I cleaned up the rxs they flew A LOT better than before almost glitch free.. But still not as good as my Spektrum stuff. Never had a glitch once, with 5 different models - cars, helis, planes..

I agree with you Chris I loved my DX6i when I was flying I'm going to go with the Spektrum surface radio I believe its the DX3S,now I will say the predecessor to the DX6i was susceptible interference both of the fellow that I leaned to fly from owned those we were flying near the fire station where I live and they have a radio tower on the premises and on several occasions when their tower was receiving it drop my friends planes no harm was done as the interference was only slight but still noticeable.
But I'm still fond of Spektrum radios and the exceed car that I've bought I knew going into buying it that the radio would have to go and with the spectrum I can have up to ten cars on it and as I've posted in a review I wrote on this car your not going to get everything in one box and thats what the R/C hobby is all about anyway modifying the heli plane or car to fit the feel that best suits you.
None the less thanks for posting what you did I'll check these points you mentioned I'm not going to bash this car all in all it seems to be well built and with upgrades I think its going to be great. Cheesy

2.4ghz interference
DC motor = none
Fire station with the 2.4 ghz radios -- Should still be none if the radios work 100% correctly, but they are notorious for bleeding in to bands they are not suppsoed to be in. A big tower on the fire station with that many watts... I could see that jacking you over..

granted I have been out of the hobby for a bit. but I raced rc pan cars, off rhoad buggys and trucks. went over to boats and airplanes. granted the planes were nitro and I didnt get glitches unless the radio batteries were dieing. but the cars and boats all had capasitors soldered to the motors. some times a couple and it made a great deal of differance in responce and accuracy of the reciever. I'm not sure about these new ep planes. I just got 1 for my daughter and it was wacked from the get go. motor was mounted wrong, missing parts. I am not impressed. think I'll be going back to tower hobbies and gettin something alot more reliable and sturdier. with alot less problems.

That capacitor you are talking about kept the DC BRUSHED motor from interfering with an AM radio.

NEVER try and put a capacitor on a brushless motor. you will hose it.
