Well it looks like I'm the first person to post a thread here so I don't really look to get an answer since this site has been here for years without even one post. I think the best thing to do is cut and paste my question from the helicopters beginners forum and slide it in here. So... be right back, I think.

____________________________________________________________________

OK, here's my questions:

I know there's some inventive folks out there so I was just wondering...
has anybody got one of these 1:12 or 1:16 scale tanks that shoots the little air soft 6mm plastic pellets? I was wondering if that air soft unit on the tank can be easily removed from the rc model.

I mean, can you take off the entire unit including the magazine (which usually holds around 40 pellets) and is it small enough to mount on a 450 sized rc heli? Might have to mount it between or under the skids and then build a little landing plank to put on the bottom of the bolted on "cannon assembly" to land on. It might be kinda cool to fly and shoot at the same time.

You could set up targets and have some friendly air to ground competition. They even make little air soft paint balls that could be fired air to air between flying heli's to mark your hits.
Hmmm... then again, it could just be cabin fever or maybe I smoked one too many turkeys in my day.

are sure there's anybody here?

cane, i have three soft tanks and i never did break them yet to have to take them apart. i would think it would be possible, minus the entire body, except for the turret and electronics to fire the soft bb's..we better figure this out before the chinese, lol......

anybody got ideas on this form?

I know what you mean bully. Now that someone has put the thought to paper so to speak the Chinese are probably going to be working day and night to design a cannon and magazine that can be bolted onto a heli for the newest game in town, "Attack Heli".

I can just see it now, the USA pays for the guys of Xheli's forum to travel to China to compete against the Chinese team and the Russian team at "Ground Attack" and "Air to Air Combat with  Helicopters"!

For all we know the Estes Rocket Company is going to be working on an air launched 1/4 A sized rocket (with a paint marker tip) that can be used in both air to air combat and on ground attack targets like 2 liter Dr. Pepper bottles.   Grin                                                                                   .

You could do it.
my kid has one of the airsoft tanks.
Basically the bbs are stored in the turret itself, so unless you could hang the whole turret you would have to rig somethign up.

go and get an actual airsoft gun instead. It will be cheaper and works the same. (just a little electic motor that pulls back a spring that shoots the bb, the next one is gravity fed in.)

If you want to hang the whole turret so you can aim the gun independentaly of the heli it could probably still be done but would get tricky/heavy.

edit: I think I even have an extra turret I could probably part with.

I tore apart the extra turret the other day. It would be pretty heavy. You would need a big heli.

It got me thinking though - I was at the LHS the other day and picked up some size 'A' model rocket engines the other day. I am going to try mount some 'unguided missles' under my 450 I think..

Although I don't have any tanks, I have thought of the gun/heli idea quite exstensively!! I have a few ideas, but need to get flying the 450 better before I start testing. I see that there are RC subs, that fire torpedos, and would like to design something along those lines. Once I get better at flying, I will start development and let you know my findings. I will most likely post in the heli forums, as not to take away from the tanks!!!

I am 95% of the way there on my Rocket launcher for my heli.

I am afraid to mount it and try and launch one in the air though. I am not sure how much backward force there will be on the heli.

Hi Cane. I was wondering if you could tell me specifically where and how to load an M1A2 ABRAMS RC Air Soft Tank. I just got it and the directions are horrible! So if the directions cant help me, I thought a person could. So if you Know where and how to load an M1A2 ABRAMS RC Air Soft Tank, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

On my kids bulldog the little hatch on the turret pops up and you dump them in there. All of the other ones I have seen are the same way. It seems weird because that is where the on/off switch for the firing mechanisim is and when you put the bbs in it covers up the switch.

Hi!

Another newbie here. Have enjoyed watching the conversations in this forum. I'm looking at my first r/c purchase soon. Am interested in the  1/16 Tiger tank w/metal tracks offered on this site. Does anyone know; does this tank have all metal transmission gears? Also, what's the best option for a wireless cam that I can mount on the tank and feed images to my laptop?

Thanks
