Dude, more sugar, less caffeine!  LOL

I totally can relate.  I had been procrastinating even fixing mine after the last crash because I'm afraid to do it again.

Will I ever stop caring if I crash?  Undecided

It's funny how the Creator wired each of us, especially our memories........the apprehension "more commonly" referred to as fear, is suppose to be a protection mechinism........protecting us from ourselves, others and maybe our Heli's........... Wink take yor pick..........I'm still trying to fiqure which........

I'm still a newbie pilot....and I have plenty reasons to protect myself or others due to lack of thumb command........but I found after a "memorable experince" before I jump back on the horse and ride, I take inventory of my present emotional condition.

For me, if my world is rotating out of "pitch" and my internal trim settings are not giving me comfort........I do not fly the 450......period. I go to the sim and try to find my balance, then start-up with a  Coax or the squirrely HBFP......after a 1/2 hour or so with the HBFP......(which is enough to drive me crazy anyway) I'm usually ready to hover the 450 and most of the bad memories have taken flight with the HBFP frustration........sometimes even tearing down a bird and re-build has helped with the "bad memory" issue........
Just a thought.......

I remember when I was younger I ran my car into a traffic light trying to make a 90 degree turn @ 50 mph.  A police officer was sitting at the red light and witnessed it all.  I had had quite a few drinks that night and was kindly pulled out of the car by the helpful police officer.  Lucky for me the police officer had been one of my father's ROTC students.
After this incident i was terrified to drive. For the next couple of days my father dragged me out to the car and we drove here and there without a purpose.  Then i was forced to drive until i was comfortable again.

The point to this rant is that fear is the mind killer.  Helicopter flying should be fun.  Once that fear goes away, we start trying things we normally dont' do. Like flying that beater heli, which is my HBFP.  I could care less if I wreck that thing.  However, my Blueray i baby and pucker up every time i fly. Will it ever end, the fear?  Hope not, that's what makes it exciting.

Some days you just ain't got it.  When the Heli Gods are kind enough to send you a warning it's best to heed the advice.

A couple of days ago I went out to fly my nicely set up EXI.  3 full packs, no wind, beautiful weather.

As soon as I lifted off, I noticed a distinct "lack of connection" with the heli.  I tooled around softly for half a pack, loaded up, and went home.

I may not have gotten much stick time that day, but the heli lived to fight another day.

Some days you just "feel it".  You can do no wrong.  Stall turns and high-speed maneuvers come easily.  You can almost imagine yourself in the cockpit.  Those are the days that make the aborted sorties worth it.

The really scary days are the neutral ones.  Anything could happen.  You might suddenly feel that connection, or the Heli Gods may get cranky and strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger.  Fly conservatively on those days.

The nOOb fear we all feel from time to time is just a friendly warning that today isn't your day.  Sim and re-check your setup for a few hours and try again tomorrow.

After I turned an 80" Cap232 into a pile of kibbles & bits it took me a while to get back on the horse. My helis dont bother me because being a noob I know I going to crash, it supprises when I dont.
Remember just one thing  "Breathe". long slow deep breaths.

Amen brother, that takes a lot of self control, but its the right thing to do.  Any time I have gone against that, I paid the price.

Q

Let's get this straight.
You got drunk.Crashed your car.Got picked up by the police.

Your fathers reaction was to force you to drive for no reason?Seriously?
That's messed up.Bad.

Read it again.
His dad dragged him to the car and forced him to drive even though he was scared to drive because of a drunk driving crash.Hurried his drunk driving butt back on the road.

My dad would have taken my car away. Not hurried me back into it.

may be he would have forced him because he would be scared to death and would not do it again.
