what size motor is that? Get you some depron from rcfoam.com if your east or dwfoamies.com if your out west. $5 a sheet when you get a few. Looks like 3mm and some carbon  strutsmight fit that motor best. I've gone through 3 cases of the depron. really good stuff, but you start buying cases you will run outta room to store em all. The 6mm planes always fly at 10 oz minimum, where the same size plane in 3mm weighs in around 6oz minimum. Also, use foam safe ca to tack it together then get you some plane windshield glue and lay a bead on all the joints. IT will let it crash with tearing it up to bad. Ca is really brittle.

I'll take some shots of some of my yaks if that is a 350 ish motor for some ideas for ya. Thin ply is half way easy to carve for motor mounts and servo horns. Some lighter e-flight stuff uses a short carbon rod with foam bracing then heat shrink right to that with another carbon rod going to the servo. Really really light weight/easy solution

Start out with your cg around that carbon spar, if it''s squirly move it up, if it's lame and flys like a dart, move it back. Should be half way "loose"

awesome, thanks... I hope to start my build on that tonight!

how did you print it? When I do what the instructions say, there's a 1/2" border around all my pages... if I hit "fit to printable area" they go away, but the instructions say to make it "shrink to printable area"

There are a few other ways as well, e-flite uses 2 pieces of carbon rod with a piece of heat shrink between them. They reinforce the rod at an angle with a small piece of foam on the controll surface side. Thin ply like the one he bought works well too, just get the ply at your local lhs. I've cut them entirely with large finger nail cutters out of ply. That plastic cd case is fragile. My planes have to be able to crash and fly.

No matter what the plane, keep it light and it will be easy to save from crashing (also flies after a crash), make it heavy and saving it from crashing will be impossible (and once crashed will be in a million pieces). Trust me, tried it myself several times

finished mine and flew it... it's alot of fun and really durable during crashes - except for the prop
