Not sure if a Nitro heli is the way to go anymore.  LIPO batteries seem to offer the same but with less mess.  Gasoline (carbon based fuels) are only going to go up in the future as te U.S. doesn't have an Energy policy.  At least with Lithium (the lightest metal on the Periodic Table) we won't be beholden to the Middle East which is where we have terrorism.  Lithium depsosits are found predominately in South America such as countires like Chile.

Not to get off the point, LIPO Battery powered helis are just as good a Nitro helis which IMO are dinosaurs.  That's why Xheli.com and other sister sites sell mostly LIPO Based R/C equipment.  From Airplanes, to helis, to tanks, Speed Cars, and boats - LIPOs and brushless motors are taking over.  Why go backwards.  That's what got te U.S. Auto makers into trouble by bringing back the hemi engines that is now considered a clunker which we as Americans have paid for. ($3,500-$4,500USD)

I know battery is the way to go for the future but we still see gas has a market for it. We do not see any ready to fly gas at this moment yet. We'll see what walkera can do for us. We may not carry this product at the end unless the price is right for our customers.

For the 3D harcore fanatic, brushless electric is awesome!

Nitro is gonna give a sport flyer way more time in the air.

What I'd really like to see is a 2 cycle 600 RTF offered by XHeli!

In my case, I wanted to have the 83 for the thrill of the sound and smell. Nitro is not perfect, but electric is not, too. Nitro makes my heart beat more than electric!!!

Hi, Tony. After testing the Walkera 83, to which top end heli woul you compare it?   I'd like to see a comparo between the HM-83 and an expensive and top end heli.  Thank you, and you did a really good job!!

Nice Vid and flying Tony.

Judging by the vids, It seems that this heli has pretty good power to it.

Tony, if you post a benchmark of how many minutes you can get a hover on a tank of fuel, that would be informative as well as the Nitro % you were running.

Looking at specs on other websites this heli is close (but smaller) than the size of a 500.
900mm rotor disk vs. 970mm for the EXI 500.

Thanks dditch66

The Walkera #83 does have some good power. The motor was still not tuned yet in the second video and I believe that .15 motor still has some potiential. I was using 10% nitro fuel for the cars. The motor might perform even better if I were to use 30% heli fuel. I never clocked the actual flight time but I would say it gets around 5 mintutes of flying. That was on the rich side so the flight times may go up another minute or so.

The Walkera #83 is a slight bit smaller than the 500's. We did have a video of the size comparison but the lenght of the video was getting too long so we had to cut out some parts. The blades are an inch shorter and the tail lenght is about an inch and a half shorter. I would say the Walkera is bigger than a 450 size but smaller than the 500. It falls in the middle.

Brisetout

Thanks Smiley I would compare the Walkera HM 83 to maybe a Raptor 30. It does have more power than Raptor 30 though. With the Walkera #83 head setup the heli does have a different feel in flight compare to some of the other heli's I have flown. It's smooth but at the same time fast when you need it. I didn't fly it enough so it would be unfair to compare it to the bigger more expensive helicopters out there
