Telebee is known to be good.  But compared to the $18 for the Dynam that this guy (who started the thread and made the video), it is more expensive.  I was just looking for the cheapest option.  I just got a hitec hg-5000 for 57 bucks plus 5 bucks shipping on E bay.  I should be set with this bad boy.  I'll just sell the two Align gyros I got recently to pay for this one.

Anybody have tips on how to set the hg5000 up?  Or is it just the same, but just works better?

i dont think of risking to spend 18 bucks on a gyro..there should be a catch if they are that cheap...i thought telebee were on the bottom grade for gyros

I have no complaints with my Telebee, it holds the tail rock steady.

My telebee v2 keeps drifting, for the life in me I can't stop if from creeping.  But my gy48v that thing is a beast, it works just fine for me and it don't creep. Don't know what to say except for I love plus it was cheaper than my telebee......

Im the guy on the video. Dont know about telebee but trust me I wont buy a gyro with this name, the name looks cheaper than DETRUM (LOL). I just readed a lot of good comments about this gy48v and couldnt resist to bet my $20.00 on that. A friend told me to use the ds410 with it (can you believe it??? A cyclic servo)and theres the video. Im not a guru, I don like to deal with all the rc helis theory, I could get crazy with all the forrums comments, but I think that to judge a gyro you have to push it in on a 3D flight with a funnel or a hurricane or tic tocs also(dont dominates tic tocs yet). Scale or normal flight is not enought to say that is a good gyro. I have a Futaba 401 and two JR770 3D gyros on a trex 500 and hurricane 550 and Im thinking to put on sale. Im waiting for a few more flights with the gy48v to see if everything works as now. I have about 20 flights on it.  It is gonna be a kind of weird to combine the $20.00 gyro with ths $150.00 JR S8900G servo but with the difference I can buy another rc spares and stuff.

At this moment I can say that I do recommend the gyro, It feels the same if not better than the FUTABA 401, cant compare with g770 yet because never installed any of them on the exi 450 and to be honest it makes me lazy to try it, at my 3d level I dont think i would feel a difference, maybe with some guy with better skills... The other reason... I love to show off my cheap gyro with my club friends...

Sorry about my english...

MrSato - def not that same, similar but pay close attention to #6 and #10, both very important -

http://www.hitecrcd.com/product_file/file/130/HG-5000_Gyro_combo_manual.pdf

**oh and #7 since you are not using the hi tec servo, need to select #2 for digital, or #3 for analog**

FinlessBob has a good install vid, let me see if I can find it for you

Here it is - http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=68319, be sure and watch the entire series of vids, at
first he tell you wrong settings for TX at start, then corrects himself, TX setting at setting very important

Thanks UC, yours is the first suggestion...I bought the Thunder ac6, Im waitting for it, hope it dont overcharge my lipos. In this charger crisis Im charging my lipos with an esky cheap charger  (about $12.00) that at least leave my cells at no more than 4.18v. Bought another one of those just in case...

Does anyone know if the delay knob in the detrum gy48v gyro do the same function as the gain knob in others. Im using a dx6i so I usually dont touch this knob but I want to built another exi450 with a cheap xheli radio (think it is exceed) to encourage my club friends who thinks they have to spend thousands of dollars to have a decent helicopter. I think those radios doesnt have heading hold or rate so It should be directly with a screwdriver into the gyro. Does anyone have an idea?

What's your altitude problem?

Osyhaz - GY48V sets up same as Fut401. At that price I own a couple after my first 401. Only problem I've seen with it is the price of compatable tail servos , but that's the same issue as the 401. The least expensive one I got was a Jr tail specific for about $40. You put a cheap servo on either gyro it's toast.

Thanks Mustang I have a couple of them, I would recomend the ds410 cycle servo thats the one im using in the video at the begining of this blog, works great, at least for me.

My issue is that I want to use it with a cheap transmitter that doesnt have any gain adjustment in the radio, Do you know if "DELAY" in the gy48v is the same as the "GAIN" in other cheaps gyro?

SSame as Fut 401, just pull directions off Fut's web site and treat it the same.

actually, the left knob is the gyro gain.  middle on the knob goes between HH and rate mode.  HH is to the right, rate mode to the left.  All the way either way would be 100% gain, near middle will be near 0%.  Just as any other gyro, put the gain wire in ch 5 slot on the rx and you can adjust gain while flying.  I know this from experience.  :-)
