Hello, all I just got my first RC heli and have no Idea to set it up..yes I know I jumped the gun but too late I already have it. The instructions are extreemly vauge on how to set it up. I have watched the video they have linked but they do not match and a lot of the radio settings for the DX7 have been skipped. If anyone has a walk thru on not only setting up the heli but setting up the DX7..

Again I know I jumped the gun with this heli but as I stated I already bought it and would like to get it up and running. I am going to buy a blade msr to learn orientation before I get this one up and flying.

I received the dx7 the day before I received the Genesis so I know only how to move through the menu but not exactly how or what each setting does.

Thanks in advance.

Was the genesis RTF ver. or reciever ready ver.
We need to find out somethings to determine where to start.
Do you have the Spek RX like the AR6200.
Is it bound, installed and servos operating properally.
Did you go threw the basic heli setup understand what everything was.
What settings confuse you the most.
If you got the RTF ver. did you get to fly it yet.

it is the receiver ready model. I have a spektrum Ar6110E.  I have the swash plate moving correctly. One thing I am confused is which servo is which. I understand the tail servo but I am confused as to which servo is which?  Is the rear one the elevator? the right one the aileron which leaves the left. I have the receiver bound. The thing that I am mostly confused is the gyro setting. Not sure what switch does what. I have the Heli version of the DX7.  I downloaded this instructional guild( http://www.swashplate.co.uk/ehbg/ehbg-18.pdf) it doesn't really apply to the DX7 (I dont think is was out by then)  I learn quite a bit from reading it..

Ok the gyro has two modes, it has to be initilized with the light on and can be switch to the other where the light goes off
If you hit the up and down buttons at the same time do you see gyro sense in the menu. If you do pick it and hit scroll and the down button at the same time.
You will see rudd, pick it and hit increase or adjust and select D/R meaning to switch between the two modes you will toggle the rudder D/R switch right top corner
of TX, you will notice Rate and two setting listed set at 50 and actually = 0 gain
the 0 and 1 indicate the switch postions and the setting for each one. After that set the rate 0 : about 70 and the 1 : 30 in the gyro sense screen for starters, initilize helli with the Rudder switch on 0 pos. after initialized, light on gyro lit switch to tail lock mode 1, you will then adjust gain will tail waggs and then back off, the lower the no. the higher the gain for 1 and the higher the no. the higher the gain for 0. Lets start with that and see what we got
I you have to much trim, adjust linkage or move servo

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. For some reason I cant get my gyro to go into any mode. I had my dx7 setup setup for on the Input select  function to Aux2 set to Aux2 and the Gear setup to GYRO.  Then I have the throttle hold set for the Rudder d/r.. not sure from reading your answer how to set my up.. When turn on the tx and then power the receiver (I disconnected the engine wires) the light on the gyro goes solid. I can move the rudder with the collective but it doesn't try to self correct itself so I am assuming that it is not in Heading hold mode. it doesn't matter where I put the gear switch??  I have hooked the rudder servo directly to the rudder on the receiver (by passed the gyro) to get it into the center of travel.  I now have R 28 for the rudder subtrim.  I don't know what to do next?  also not sure if this makes a difference but the wire that I have that separates from the gyro I have on the gear lead on the receiver. I am not sure what is going on..

thanks for your help

you wont be using anything on aux2 because the 6110 rx only has 6 channels not 7 unless u get a ar7000 which has 7 channels

OK Amacron, here is what we do, and you might try gear = gear latter to see witch you like better
1st- Put rudder sub trim back on 0 and leave it, that confusses the gyro and adjust linklage or move tail servo on boom if needed to adjust travel, make sure it travels left up against the boom with full right stick
2nd you have to pick another switch for throttle hold, thats the one to switch gyro mode with gear = gyro function
3rd- Using gear = gyro function for gyro means that you will select gyro in function list ( up + select ) the screen will show gyro 0 -50 and 1 -50 that means the gyro is at 0 gain and the light will stay on until  gain is raised 0- > 50 and 1 < 50 and switching modes with rudder D/R switch. You will start with 0 - 75 and 1 - 30. The further you adjust from 50 the higher the gain. I have gear = gear and use the gear travel adjust for gyro so I don't remember what postion is what but the light will be on in one pos. and off in the other once you change those settings. HH usually requires less gain than normal mode ( light off )
4th After setting up the gain a bit double check servo travel with gyro, pick up heli and rotate left - the slider should move left, rotate right the slider should move right.
5th  When switching TX's, the throttle range should be reset. With motor hooked up
power up the tx, place throttle at max, plug in bat. on heli, you will get a couple of beeps, drop throttle to min. within 2 seconds, you will hear another tone or two
then disconnect battery. See instructions that came with the heli for esc
