Check out this thread at RCGroups. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=852122

In the second post there are many, many links to threads for pretty much any mod you want to do to the Super Cub.

This one has step by step video of adding ailerons to the Super Cub.

how does that look? I really like the BnF... however, there's no wheels for a ground takeoff... think you could put some on it?

I actually have that one and it is a great flying plane. You could (and several people have) easily add the landing gear for the Parkzone Corsair to this plane. Again, there are several very good threads about the P51 at RCGroups. All that being said, I would not recommend the Mustang or any warbird as a first plane. If you are set on a BnF, the T-28 is probably the most beginner friendly in the Parkzone line up.

how many channels is that? do you really recommend it? It really looks like a great plane... I do practice flying planes on my simulator, not sure if that really helps like it does for my helis...

The T-28 is a full 4 channels and is an excellent flying airplane. If you have really put in the work on a sim you should have very little problem with the Trojan. It is not a high wing trainer so it will not self recover like a high wing plane will but it is a very stable plane.

Thanks for all the info... I will probably get my Super Cub next week. After a flight or two on the stock radio, I plan on putting this in it: http://www.readyheli.com/Spektrum_AR6110_DSM2_Microlite_6Channel_Rx_p/spmar6110.htm

that'll plug in, right?

Yep, should plug right in. If I remember correct you already have a DX6i right?

Unless you plan to add ailerons right away you will need to plug the rudder servo into the aileron channel on the new receiver so that the rudder and elevator will stay on the same stick on the Tx. Once you do the aileron mod then move the rudder servo to the rudder channel and plug you ailerons into the aileron channel.

Personly I started out with the HobbyZone Mini Super Cub, great little plane, very durrable with ACT (Anti-Crash-Technology)!!  The plane is quite cheap, $110 at my local hobby store, parts are very cheap also.  Another great ARF plane is the Nieuport 17! Great for flying inside gym's and up at a park, maximum speed is around 15-25 mph, so it goes fairly slow, but this plane is a bit expensive, just the main frame costed me $75 at my local hobby store, but then you have to get a controlor and all of the parts for it, which comes to a total of around $500, depending where you get the parts at, I prefer HobbyPartz.com  They have litarly the cheapest items, normaly a 250 brushless motor would cost around $50, well at HobbyPartz.com it costs $8.75!! AND YOU CAN CHOOSE FLAT RATE SHIPPING!!!!!!!!!!! Grin

I got the Hangar 9 Alpha 40 after taking advice from people at the local flying field. They told me they would train me. I found it really hard to believe that only a thin piece of tape holds those two winds together, besides the metal rods that go through them. But those rubber bands are really tight too...

what do you guys use as the expo on your ailerons? I think 100% is WAY too much - I was flying on the simulator and it was really touchy. I put it to 60% and i could manage it
