If you search around on the net, you will see how some people use Tri-Flow or Silicone based spray oils.
Lots of opinions/counter opinions out there.

Keeping the helicopter clean and dust free is definitly a good thing. There are no arguments about that one.

The typical carbon brushed motor has brushes that rub against the shaft stator.  This will generate heat as well as oxidation particles.  The brushes eventually wear out and the motor fails.  You can icrease the longevity of the carbon brsuhes motor by using heat sinks for cooling the magnets and use a air dust blower to keep the brushes oxidation free.   Most people will opt just to get a heat sink and fuse installation bwt the Rx and the motor.  The typical 370 or 380 carbon brushed motor typical lasts about 300 full flights before failing and costs about $10.00(USD) to replace.

If you want a motor that last virtually forever, get a brushless motor system.  That requires typically, a brushless motor and an E.S.C. (Electronic Speed Controller).  The ESC is a driver for the brushless motor.

Belts eventually wear out as its made of rubber and can stretch over time an cause slipping as the teeth wear out.  A metal chain belt would be nicer but is impractical on small helis.

LOL, I am a new flyer but I have already noticed how many bugs actually fly right towards the heli when it is in flight, then get splattered off the main blades.
