I have a gen1 Tmaxx with a TRX .15 engine in it. Its only had about a gallon of gas run through it since it was made. I am going to be trading that engine up, but people told me to go with a 2.5R instead of a 3.3 because of my older style transmission.

But I heard that the 2.5R transmission is the same thing, and the 3.3 is the same as the 2.5r except with different gearing to make it slightly faster.
So if I got a 3.3, would I need to get a 3.3 transmission? Also, whats the forward only mod about? Does a forward only mod make it faster since reverse is taken away?

And I was wondering if I could spray paint my battery box, reciever box, shocks, and transmission (inside and out, or just out) gray to make them look like a 3.3 until I get the real new ones.

foc or foward only conversion makes your transmision stronger.
upgrading to a 2.5 is enough power
if you spry apint the parts only do the outside
the 2.5 and 2.5r are very similar exept the 2.5r has upgraded parts.

slash w/vxl and rpm a-arms around, rpm gear cover, rpm casters, rpm axle carriers & spc 2s lipo.

Thanks.
So I should get the 2.5R engine, and I can spraypaint the transmission, battery box, and reciever box gray?
