Probably not, but I dont like the glow plug igniter, so asking this is fine for me.

If I could somehow... rig up a lawn mower spark plug to my engine as a glow plug, and run a battery to it on board, would it work?
If anyone has an old garbage engine that will at least start even if it doesn't stay running, please try to find a way to test this, Im curiuous.
And if it works, let me know how you got it to connect.
And yes, I know this post sounds tupid, but it would be cool to have a mod like this working.

Also, just been wondering, what happens if you put petro gas in the nitro tank? I wouldn't try it even if it worked, Im just wondering if it would even start at all.

Nope not even clsoe to working. A spark plug is all built on timing and sparking at the right moment during maximum copmpression.
1- you would have no way to time it
2- the spark probably wouldn't ignite the fuel anyway.
3- there is no sparkplug small enough to fit your engine.

Whats wrong with the plug?

gas in a nitro engine? If you jacked around with it enough you might get it to explode in your face.   Grin

Even if you could get it to run the engine would lock up in about 10 seconds. A good portion of nitro fuel is lubricant.

Okay dude, you took that a little too serious.

Im new to the hobby, no idea how a lot of this stuff works. Obviously it wouldn't fit, that's why ti would have to be modded. It wouldn't explode in my face, I wouldn't do it. It would explode in one of my stupider friends faces, which is fine. Nothing wrong with the plug, but the igniter is annoying and imagine a nitro engine with the big plug coming out leading to a battery on board so you can just pull the starter and it starts. I think it would look like one of those dirt bikes made out of a chainsaw, still something fun to mess with though.

no thats a good question better to ask before trying and f&#ing up your motor, $$ to replace is ridiculus.,  any way if you want to run gas get a 1/5 scale with a 23cc- or 26cc (2 stoke) you can find cheap ones but the cheapest I've seen is $500.00. the hpi baja 1/5 scale buggy is like 1200.00. or if you keep burning up plugs, consider buying a nitro engine tuning video. it helped me immensely. i don't  know does thAT  help?  Undecided  i hope so.

Its called the Traxxas EZ start.  It has electric wires to spark the glow plug and it acts as a roto start.
