How is the competition carried out? Not enough information…what edf jet is provided and is deposit refundable?

  2. Evanator00 says:

Cool I live right by there! Too bad I fly RC Helicopters and I’m 13 and I’m not in the AMA or I would fly =( Also, if you are just going to spectate, do you have to RSVP?

  3. teddy says:

You can either go there as a spectator which requires no sign-up or sign-up to compete in the event. If you sign up, you come to our office to deposit $50 and we give you an edf jet kit. You use your own electronics and fly the jet during the event and we’ll have judges determining who the winners are. The $50 is refundable.

  4. teddy says:

No RSVP is required, but I would like to get a head count so please comment on this section that you will be attending. Thanks!

  5. Bryan says:

    Teddy,

Does that mean we can keep the jets after the event or buy them for $50? Will you have straight discounts if we just want to buy something for the event and keep? Sounds like others have this question too :) .

    Thanks for doing this..
    Bryan

  6. Matt Stein says:

The web address given takes me to your page. Your entire line of EDFs are shown, Which models are the ones for the event? Do they include the fan, motor, and ESC. If not, will everyone have to use the same power package and purchase separately and are they available as an accesssory kit? How much? Also, what are the events? you provide no description of it/them.

  7. Janet says:

    That is soo cool-GREAT idea!!

  8. teddy says:

Hi Matt. You can email Darryl for more information. However, since we’re here, I’ll give it a shot. We have a line of EDF kits here that you can choose. You have to provide your own electronics. We will have judges that will judge based on overall performance and entertainment value. Please email Darryl if you have more information. Thanks.

  9. teddy says:

Thank you Janet! It will be a lot of fun. If anything, you can enjoy the great Chinese food that we are ordering from a great restaurant in Hollywood!

  10. teddy says:

    Hi Bryan,

If you fly in the event, you get your $50 back and keep the jet. If you do not fly in the event, we would appreciate it if you return the edf to us in mint condition. (You can also get back your $50 deposit this way) There’s still a lot of details and plans for the events that we have not finalized. I will see if we can get some products out there for our fans to buy. Look forward to our prize giveaways also.

    Regards,

    Teddy

  11. George says:

What happens if we maiden the plane prior to the fun fly but for some reason the plane crashes and is no longer flyable. If we still come to the fun fly do we get the $50.00 refund.

  12. Sandy says:

    I am interested!

  13. teddy says:

    Hi George,

If you come to the fun fly and explain your situation to me, I will give you your refund. It would be a shame though because you’ll miss out on the opportunity to win the grand prize of $1000. Let’s hope nothing goes wrong. Good luck!

  14. Gary Gonzales says:

Very interested in the competition. Is it a flying and best looking model competition?

  15. Dave says:

    Sweet! Looks like fun.
Can’t afford the $50 right now, but should be able to by then.
    Thanks!

  16. rohan says:

  17. teddy says:

    Hi Rohan,

As long as your dad has an AMA and signs a parental consent or waiver, you can fly. We can also have the President of the club stand next to you for supervision. If you can do that, I will ask Darryl to give you the information.

  18. Norio says:

    Hello Teddy,
I looked through these messages and have yet to understand what the actual competition is. Is it a race, a set of manuvers, most entertaining, coolest?
What is the competition? What will contestants be judged on?
    Just suspicously curious.

    Thanks

  19. teddy says:

    Hi Norio,

We will have multiple competition including entertainment value, performance, style, and much more. However, for the main prize event, everything will be considered. The judges will be from multiple clubs and we will even have special guests to judge. Stay tune for more information! We have made major changes for your enjoyment!

  21. teddy says:

    Hi Roland,

  30. Al says:

Burning question …. It’s gonna be hot!!!! Will the Nitro-Planes models ( GIRLS) be there??? If so it just got hotter !!!!!!

  31. teddy says:

The Nitro-Planes Girls will definitely be there. I thought everyone was going to go to the fun fly to meet me. But you all just want to go to see the girls! I’m kidding. It will be hot, but it will be very entertaining. See you all there!

  32. James says:

are you guys for sure bringing things to sell? i would like to buy a few things from you guys, exi 250, airfielf rc plane, lipo batteries, motors, esc, etc. I hope you guys do, i will be driving for about 2.5 hrs.

  33. Danny B says:

We have a blast. Nitro Planes came through with a well planned event and worked hard to make sure everyone had a good time.

They provided all the cold drinks we needed and fed us a nice lunch. They had a lot of product on display and for sale, and Dave “Nightflyyer” Herbert and Tony, with Nitro Planes, put on great flying demonstrations.

But, the team competition was the best part of the day. Six teams of three pilots flew three at a time and had to perform specific flying routines that were judged on performance that included: a high speed pass, overall entertainment value, a limbo pass and a spot landing.

    Cash prize money was split between 1st, $1,000, 2nd, $500 and 3rd, $250.

Quite a few of the Corona R/C Club members participated and took home some prize money.

Danny Bravo was on the first place team, Mike Spring, Brian Rand, and I were on the second place team, and Troy Hamrick and Jason Benson were on the third place team. Congratulations guys.

Nitro Planes was also generous enough to award consolation prizes to all of the pilots that competed but didn’t finish in the money. A very classy thing to do.

The raffle at the end of the day was unbelievable. About a dozen of their review planes were given away and the winners couldn’t have been happier, I know I was!

All of the raffle ticket proceeds will be donated by Nitro Planes to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The goal was $500 but the good people of the R/C community doubled that to $1,000. Wow!

The Corona R/C Club would like to thank Nitro Planes for giving us the opportunity to host and enjoy a really special event.

We’d also like to thank all of the participants that braved the elements and comported themselves as good ambassadors of our hobby.

Once again the members of the Corona R/C club came through and we appreciate everyone’s help that made this event such a success.

  34. teddy says:

Congratulations to all the winners! I hope you all had fun and thank you for coming out! It was great meeting you all. When I get a chance, I will put up all the pictures and videos. Thanks!
